While intended as a security measure, such shutdowns often prevent access to emergency services, hospitals, and financial systems. Citizens lose the ability to communicate with loved ones or report urgent situations, placing lives at risk. Blanket internet shutdowns violate international human rights standards and must be prohibited. We demand a global ban on nationwide internet shutdowns, guaranteed emergency communication access for all citizens, and legal protection of digital rights during crises. Access to the internet is not a luxury — it is a lifeline.
