The Issue
Religious minorities face discrimination, violence, and legal persecution in dozens of countries around the world. From restrictions on building places of worship to criminal penalties for apostasy, violations of religious freedom are widespread and underreported. Every person has the right to hold, change, and practice their beliefs without fear. We call on the UN Human Rights Council to establish independent monitoring systems for religious freedom violations, hold governments accountable for persecution, and ensure that freedom of belief is protected as a core fundamental right in every nation.
