The Issue
Iranian citizens continue to face imprisonment, torture, and execution for peacefully expressing their beliefs, demonstrating in the streets, or simply speaking online. The international community has a moral and legal obligation to respond. This petition calls on the UN Human Rights Council, the European Union, the United States, and Canada to impose targeted sanctions on Iranian officials responsible for human rights violations, demand the immediate release of all political prisoners, support the lifting of internet restrictions, and provide legal and financial support to Iranian civil society organizations in exile.
